Frequently asked questions

When does the training begin?

The course begins as soon as you're ready. The entire program is done online and at your own pace. We recommend completing in 3-9 months if you're able, but you have one full year to complete the course.

After the year ends you will have lifetime access to all course content.

Is it all online?

Yes, all course content is online and presented through pre-recorded material along with live group video chat discussions (these usually happen weekly and several different days & times are offered each week).

Is this teaching certification Yoga Alliance approved?

Yes, the YogaDownload 200 hour Online Yoga Teacher Training program is certified by Yoga Alliance (an international non-profit group who sets industry standards for yoga teacher trainings). This means that once you graduate you'll be able to register with Yoga Alliance and use the title "RYT 200" after your name (e.g. "Jane Brown, RYT 200"). It's similar to adding letters to your name from university or other higher education certifications.

Is this appropriate for beginners, or do I need to be a certain level?

While you don't need any prior certifications or specific experience, you will get the most out of this course if you have previously practiced yoga (any type or level) for at least 6 months before starting. This is a foundational 200 hour program for beginner through advanced yogis who aspire to change their lives, grow personally, develop their practice, and/or become a registered yoga teacher.

How many hours do I have to put in every week?

This will depend... Our 200 hour Online Teacher Training program is self-paced and extremely flexible. You can choose to put in as much or as little time as your schedule allows.

We receommend completing within 3-9 months (6-15 training hours per week), but you have a full calendar year to complete the course which would equate to just 4 hours per week.

How long will I have access to the course?

You have one full year to complete the course, but you will have access to all course content inclding videos, PDFs and all materials for life! This also incldues a LIFETIME membership to YogaDownload - over 2,600 online yoga, meditaiton and fitness classes accesible on our site and apps.

What styles of yoga will I learn?

Upon completion of the course you will be certified to teach hatha and vinyasa yoga. You will also learn about Yin Yoga during this course, but will need a separate certification to be able to teach this style of yoga (our YogaDownload Yin Yoga certificaiton course is coming soon!).

What if I don't want to teach yoga but simply would like to deepen my practice?

This course is absolutely perfect if you wish to deepen your own practice but don't actually intend to teach, and in fact, over HALF our students take the course for this reason.

If you do not intend to teach, you will not be required to complete activties where you practice teaching sessions or any other activities that go along with learning to teach a class. There will be a short form you fill out at the beginning of the course indicating you do not wish to teach.

Please note that skipping those activities will mean you will receive a Certificate of Completion and NOT a teaching certificate.

Do I get personal interaction and feedback from my teachers?

Yes, and plenty of it! You will be supported throughout your journey and will get personal feedback plus have questions answered by your four teachers as well as your esteemed mentors. There will also be weekly live sessions where you can interact with the instructors and other students. 

What if I'm not satisfied with the training?

While we strongly believe you will be extremely happy with all aspects of this training, if for any reason you are unsatisfied or feel it's not right for you, we will provide a full refund if you cancel within 14 days of your intital purchase - no hard feelings and no questions asked. So what we're saying is.... you have absolutely nothing to lose!
